The B-21 Facility Renovation at Ellsworth Air Force Base is located in Box Elder, South Dakota. This renovation is meant to strategically improve the B-21 Weapons Release Systems Shop and spans approximately 50,000 square feet. It involves complex renovations that include infrastructure changes, electrical, mechanical, low-voltage, and fire protection systems. Along with the interior upgrades and exterior modification, PMP Construction consistently ensures compliance with accessibility standards.
Due to the complexity of this project, it has been especially important to maintain detailed security requirements that are outlined in AFI 16-1404 that reveals the necessity of meticulous planning for site access, phasing and handling of Controlled Unclassified Information. To address these complexities, a Site Security and Access Management Plan was established to outline the construction limitations and badging protocols for managing and accessing sensitive information.
After the completion of this project PMP Construction enhances and improves their infrastructure capabilities and positions the team favorably for future endeavors within the B-21 program. The experience gained from this project opens doors to additional opportunities for collaboration and expansion within and alongside the Department of Defense.
The replacement of the HVAC system at Fort Leavenworth is a requirement by the USACE Kansas City District and Fort Leavenworth for a design-bid-build project to replace and repair the HVAC system for the historic building. PMP provided repairs to the ancillary electrical and architectural structures of the building.
The complexity of this project is elevated, due to Building 196 being a part of the Fort Leavenworth National Historic Landmark District. This means that the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties applied throughout this project.
The following work was performed by PMP Construction onsite: plumbing, heating, ventilating, and air conditioning installation. Additional scope of work include: demolition of existing plumbing and HVAC.
